How to use:

Get a Client App

To use this Matrix-Server, you need a client. For Android, I recommend Element, for Windows and Linux Element (also available in Web) or Nheko(-Reborn), for Mac and iOS Element or Ditto Chat. A more complete list is available here. The differences are mostly optical, although they may differ in default settings.

Create your Account

This process is pretty easy. First, you need to start you client. After that, you will be asked to log in or register. As you don't have an account, click on register. Here, you need to change the server from matrix.org to enter home server (or something like that), where you enter matrix.k-corporation.org. Now, choose your username and password. Your username is needed for your login and so that other people can add you to their contacts, so better choose something related to your real name or alias. Also make sure to use a save password and don't share it. In case you forget your password, you have to add an email adress in your account settings after registering, otherwise your account cannot be restored.

Start chatting

After that, your account has been created and you can start chatting. To start a chat with someone, click on the plus sign next to "People" or "Rooms" saying Start Chat and enter the desired chat partners name. The format for that is username:servername.xxx (e.g. johndoe:matrix.k-corporation.org).

Group chats

In Matrix, group conversations are marked with a # before the name. To join an existing room, simply start a chat like before but instead of the user- and servername, write #groupname:servername.xxx (e.g. #familydoe:matrix.k-corporation.org). Most clients add the # automatically, so try it without one first or use the "search"-Option. The creation of a room is almost exactly like starting a private chat: Click on the plus next to "Rooms", "Create new room", fill the requested fields and create your room. After that, you can configure even more settings for that room by clicking on the three dots next to the room name.

Personal recommendations

Currently, I don't have any recommendations. The Chat is already very secure and reliable with default settings. On Mobile devices, you may have to disable battery optimisation for your Matrix-Client, as that could force the app to stay quiet if not opened, meaning that you wouldn't get notifications about new messages.
